Photography and Community
It took me a long time to figure out how to connect my passion for photography into the values I want to nourish and the causes I want to be part of. I think I have learned a few things of how photography can impact communities. It can act as a fractal of healing oneself as one token to love yourself (in a society that makes money off your doubting your abilities and beauty) you can use that power to lift others up and give yourself confidence in what power you hold. It is also a sense of connection, it shares stories with others, it freezes a moment and lets others pause to see how we are all connected. Connection brings organizing and change. Photography can show our growth, something that in progress we must look at how far we’ve come or what we need to still strengthen or where we have failed. The photo acts as a journal with a flood of memories. If there is some way my photos can provide some piece of the puzzle in community, I’m here for it.
